Tragic news: Two women beheaded during an attack by ADF fighters in Ituri
Tragic news is making headlines today as two women were brutally beheaded during an attack carried out by ADF fighters in the village of Kabrique in Ituri. This attack took place on Friday January 12 at 10 a.m. local time.
According to witnesses present on site, the attackers ambushed a motorcycle which was returning from Ndalya towards Eringeti. When the two farmers tried to flee their field, they were deliberately targeted by ADF fighters and killed with machetes.
Maliro Zawadi, head of local civil society, testifies to the horror of this attack: “The attackers showed incredible violence by decapitating these two women. It is a barbaric and cowardly act.”
The Eringeti governor’s delegate confirmed the attack, adding that the bodies of the victims were taken to the local morgue for autopsy.
This attack is part of a series of attacks perpetrated by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in the region since the end of December. Villages along national road number four were particularly targeted.
