Artistic talents in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are an inexhaustible source of creativity and genius. Higher education institutions, such as the Academy of Fine Arts, the National Institute of Arts (INA) and the Faculty Institute of Information and Communication Sciences (IFASIC), play an essential role in the development and promotion of these talents.
Despite their years of study and training, many young Congolese artists often find themselves in the shadows, without real opportunities to showcase their artistic skills. It is in this context that the “Action” initiative was born, giving young graduates the opportunity to launch their professional careers.
Every year, the initiative organizes a “Screening of School Films” which highlights the work of young Congolese filmmakers. This event provides a unique platform to showcase their talents in front of a local and international audience.
The inaugural edition of this event took place on January 6 at the National Museum of the DRC. Four short films directed by Beni Lakandal, Franck Makanda, David Khonde and Justin Ntumba were screened. These films summarize three years of learning and creativity, reflecting the subtle alliance between academic theory and the talent of young artists in practice.
The objective of the “Action” initiative is to create a bridge between the academic and professional world, offering young Congolese filmmakers concrete opportunities to launch their careers. The screening of the films marks the beginning of their professional career and provides a showcase where their talent can be recognized and applauded by a varied audience.
Beyond promoting individual achievements, “Action” also highlights the cultural and artistic wealth of the DRC. Through this annual screening, the initiative becomes a true promoter of Congolese creative genius, highlighting the country’s contribution to the film industry.
In conclusion, the “Action” initiative represents a valuable opportunity for young Congolese filmmakers to showcase their talents and launch their professional careers. It is also a means of promoting the cultural and artistic diversity of the DRC through quality film productions. A true source of inspiration and hope for a new generation of artists in the DRC.
