“Nigerian Universities: The truth behind so-called “fake professors” finally revealed!”

Rediscover the truth behind the publication of ‘fake professors’ in Nigerian universities

In a recent social media post, attributed to a broadcast media outlet, a list of 100 names of alleged fake professors in Nigerian universities was shared. The media outlet claimed to have obtained this list from the National Universities Commission (NUC). Some of these so-called fake professors have reportedly been identified as teaching at Redeemer University.

However, Redeemer University quickly reacted to reject and denounce this “abominable” publication. According to Adetunji Adeleye, Deputy Director of the University’s Department of Corporate Affairs, the people whose names appear in this list have never worked at the University at any time or in any capacity.

“These ‘teachers’ are not known to us and anyone who deals with them, whether individually or in groups, does so at their own risk,” he said. He also called on the public to be wary of fake news and always check the facts with the NUC, the regulatory body for universities in Nigeria.

For his part, Dr Noel Saliu, Deputy Executive Secretary of the NUC in charge of academic management, described the publication as “a maneuver by malicious people seeking to destroy the hard-won reputation of the universities mentioned and undermine the work of the NUC “. According to him, this information cannot under any circumstances come from the NUC.

It is important to emphasize that the dissemination of false information has a considerable impact on the reputation of academic institutions. In this case, Redeemer University was targeted, leading to a quick response from the university to set the record straight.

It is essential that the public remains vigilant against the spread of fake news and takes the time to verify sources before believing sensitive information. The NUC, as a respected regulatory body, is a reliable resource for accurate information on Nigerian universities.

This case also highlights the need to strengthen security measures to ensure the integrity of publications and prevent the spread of false information. Broadcast media have an important responsibility to ensure that the information provided is accurate and verified, in order to prevent potential harm to individuals and institutions.
The reputation of a university is based on the quality of its teaching staff and its researchers. The dissemination of false information calling into question their credibility is detrimental for the institution and for the entire education system.
In conclusion, it is important for everyone to be vigilant towards the information disseminated on social networks and to verify the sources before believing in their veracity. Collaboration between universities, regulators and the media will effectively combat the spread of false information and preserve the integrity of higher education.
