Félix Tshisekedi declared winner of the presidential election in the DRC despite protests and allegations of fraud

Provisional results of the presidential election in the DRC with Félix Tshisekedi winning

The provisional results of the presidential election in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have been announced, declaring Félix Tshisekedi the winner with 73.34% of the vote. This victory was greeted by his campaign team, which affirms that it is the result of attentive listening to the people and adherence to his social project.

According to Daniel Mukoko Samba, political director within Tshisekedi’s campaign team, this election was marked by the outgoing president’s ability to listen and speak to the Congolese people. He emphasizes that Tshisekedi’s program addresses the major concerns of the population, such as employment, purchasing power, security, a more dynamic economy and access to public services.

Mukoko Samba also highlights the reforms carried out by Tshisekedi during his first mandate, notably free education and universal health coverage. According to him, these reforms were fought but Tshisekedi was able to carry them out, thus showing his determination and courage.

However, despite the announcement of these provisional results, several candidates, including Martin Fayulu and Moïse Katumbi, contest the results and denounce organized fraud. They call for the reorganization of the elections and even exclude the possibility of taking the matter to the Constitutional Court.

The next step will therefore be the filing of appeals with the Constitutional Court, in accordance with the electoral law in force. This phase risks being marked by tensions and protests, leaving doubt about the legitimacy of Tshisekedi’s victory.

In conclusion, the provisional results of the presidential election in the DRC announced Felix Tshisekedi as the winner with a high percentage of votes. However, challenges from unsuccessful candidates and allegations of fraud could call into question the legitimacy of this victory. The period of electoral disputes therefore promises to be eventful for the remainder of this election.
