“Reinforced security for the festivities: Kinshasa closes off the red light districts”

The end-of-year festivities are fast approaching and to ensure the safety of the inhabitants of Kinshasa, the provincial police station has decided to seal off certain areas deemed “hot”. A preventive measure to guarantee the peace of the people of Kinshasa and anticipate any disturbances during the celebrations.

The “Kabila” camp in Lemba and some communes in the Tshangu district were targeted during the closure carried out by the police. The main objective of this operation was to identify and apprehend individuals who do not have the right to reside in military camps. Indeed, the presence of these people disrupts the tranquility of residents and can cause security problems.

This initiative allowed the police to get their hands on several irregular police officers and soldiers. In addition, more than a dozen young people suspected of being “kuluna” were unmasked. The concealers of the criminals were also evicted, their houses having to be occupied by regular police and soldiers. A measure aimed at cleaning the camps of all forms of delinquency and restoring order and security in these neighborhoods.

Deputy Divisional Commissioner Blaise Kilimbalimba stressed that military camps should only house regular agents, without their adult children. Unfortunately, some camps, like Kabila’s in Lemba, do not respect this rule and allow their children to engage in illegal activities, including the sale of drugs.

Blaise Kilimbalimba wanted to reassure the population by affirming that all the necessary measures have been taken to ensure the tranquility of Kinshasa residents during the end-of-year celebrations. This is a preventive action to avoid any major incident during this festive period.

In conclusion, the closure of Kinshasa’s hot spots by the provincial police is an important initiative to guarantee the safety of residents during the end-of-year festivities. By tracking down irregular police and military personnel as well as young people suspected of being kuluna, the police help to restore order and tranquility in these neighborhoods. The population can thus spend the holidays in a secure and peaceful environment.
