The Kinkanda General Hospital in Matadi, Kongo Central province, is about to experience a major advancement in its medical equipment. Indeed, by the end of 2023, the establishment will be equipped with a state-of-the-art scanner, a first in the region.
It is thanks to the initiative of the provincial government, led by Dr. Guy BANDU NDUNGIDI, and its efforts to improve the quality of health care for the population, that this modern medical imaging device was acquired. Financed with own funds, this scanner will offer the population of Matadi and Kongo Central more advanced diagnostic possibilities than radiology and ultrasound.
The scanner will allow a broader, clear, rapid and precise vision, guaranteeing comfortable diagnoses. It can also be supplemented by other medical imaging techniques, such as MRI, depending on the needs of patients. This acquisition, in addition to facilitating access to medical examinations for the local population, will help reduce costs related to travel and treatment outside the region.
This first acquisition is part of a broader vision of Dr Guy BANDU, who hopes to see the installation of scanners in other establishments in the province of Kongo Central, along the National No. 1 and in the three major districts . He sees this investment as the starting point of a series of equipment intended to improve health care throughout the region.
This acquisition is in addition to other beneficial achievements for the population of Kongo Central, such as the construction of an operating theater financed by the Norwegian Embassy, the equipment of the maternity ward of the Kinkanda General Hospital and the inauguration of a medical oxygen production plant in Kimpese. These initiatives demonstrate the provincial government’s commitment to improving health services and the well-being of the population.
In conclusion, the upcoming arrival of a state-of-the-art medical scanner at the Kinkanda General Hospital in Matadi marks a significant advance in the medical equipment of the Kongo Central region. This acquisition will enable a notable improvement in diagnostic capabilities and reduce the need for patients to travel to other cities or even abroad. This is a step forward that demonstrates the provincial government’s commitment to improving health care for local people.
