“Ondo State Governor’s Signature Verification Sparks Controversy: Forgery or Baseless Allegations?”

The verification of the authenticity of the signature of Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, continues to make headlines. While some claim his signature was forged on some official documents, the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, insists that no one is forging the governor’s signature.

In an interview with Arise Television, Ademola-Olateju responded to allegations by the Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Kayode Ajulo, that the governor was nowhere to be found and that the signed documents bore his forged signature.

Ademola-Olateju stressed that Ajulo was not competent to comment on the affairs of the Ondo State government because he does not hold any position in the state civil service. She also noted that she was familiar with the governor’s signature, as he had signed documents for her since his appointment in December 2021, and that she had not noticed a difference in his recent signature.

The commissioner also reiterated that Governor Akeredolu was still in office, while acknowledging that he was still recovering from a recent illness and was not as strong as before. She added that he continued to fulfill his duties by approving files and making important decisions for the state.

On the court order seeking clarification of the governor’s health, Ademola-Olateju said it was unnecessary because the governor was not incapable of discharging his duties. She also pointed out that this case was being used by people seeking a shortcut to the governorship in the upcoming elections.

On the leadership crisis between Governor Akeredolu and his deputy, Ayedatiwa, Ademola-Olateju cited a total breakdown of trust between the two parties, making it difficult to resolve this crisis. She said the governor had fulfilled his obligations under the peace agreement and the deputy was not prevented from carrying out his duties.

In conclusion, despite the allegations of forged signature and the ongoing leadership crisis, Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, continues to discharge his duties in the state administration. Verification of the authenticity of his signature is still under investigation, but the state Information and Orientation Commissioner has categorically denied any forgery.
