The director of the Maniema I Educational Province (PROVED), Mokito Kaunda Séraphin, recently issued a warning to election candidates: schools should not be used as a venue for political campaigning. Mokito Kaunda Séraphin underlined this point during a meeting with the heads of schools in his educational province.
He insisted that school space should not be used by politicians to spread their propaganda. He appealed to politicians to leave children alone, and urged them to take their propaganda elsewhere, outside of schools.
Mokito Kaunda Séraphin also took advantage of this meeting to communicate the instructions of the hierarchy to the heads of establishments, in particular the respect of the school calendar, knowing that the students are preparing to go on vacation.
Furthermore, during this meeting, the new Principal Provincial Inspector (IPP), Gabriel Wika Esala, was presented to the participants.
This warning highlights the importance of preserving the school environment by keeping it free from political influences. Schools are places of learning and development for students, and it is essential to protect them from political tensions that could disrupt their educational journey.
It is therefore up to politicians to respect this directive and carry out their propaganda in other places, while respecting the school environment. By preserving these learning spaces, we allow students to focus on their studies and benefit from a quality education.
This PROVED initiative highlights the importance of separating the political sphere from education, in order to preserve the integrity of the school environment. It also helps remind politicians of their responsibility towards younger generations.
