“Arrest of a kidnapping gang in Delta: A victory for the police and the security of the region!”

Recent developments in Delta, Nigeria have highlighted the arrest of a group of suspects involved in kidnapping activities. These individuals, identified as Raymond Etchie, Felix Okoro, Oghene Ogaga Sylvester, Henry Edeki, Ominike Sunday, Jerusalem Sunday and Theophilus Akpofi, are said to be members of a kidnapping syndicate in the area.

According to information provided by Delta Police spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, the police department received a report regarding the kidnapping of a 43-year-old woman (name withheld). The victim was reportedly arrested while driving his Mercedes-Benz ML-350 and was forcibly taken away by the kidnappers on a tricycle. She was later reportedly released after paying a ransom of N2 million.

Following his release, the CP-DECOY Squad, a special team set up by the Delta Police Commissioner, CP Wale Abass, undertook a sting operation to nab the kidnappers. This operation led to the arrest of the alleged gang leader, Morrison Godwin, as well as other members of the syndicate.

Morrison Godwin, aged 41, was arrested at Amukpe, Sapele town. Upon his arrest, he confessed to his participation in the kidnapping and revealed that a meeting was planned with the other gang members to plan another kidnapping operation.

Based on information provided by Morrison Godwin, the CP-DECOY Squad team set up an ambush at the planned meeting point for the gang’s meeting. This made it possible to arrest the other members of the union.

This arrest marks a victory for Delta law enforcement in their fight against kidnapping. It sends a strong message to criminals in the region: illegal actions will not be tolerated and those responsible will be brought to justice.
