The University of Benin recently held its 48th convocation ceremony where several eminent personalities were honored for their outstanding contributions to national development.
Among the awardees are former Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, and Betsy Obaseki, the wife of Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State.
Other personalities such as the Managing Director of Green Energy International Limited (GEIL), Kayode Adegbulugbe, and Chief Charles Owensuyi-Edosomwan, Senior Counsel, were also honoured.
The award was presented during the graduation ceremony held at the university on Saturday in Benin.
After receiving the distinction, Komolafe expressed his gratitude to the UNIBEN leadership for the honor, stressing that the award was a call to serve humanity more.
He said: “This award reminds us that we all live in a society that watches us. We must strive to give our best to the country, knowing that the nation is witness to our efforts so that our work does not does not go unnoticed.”
With this recognition, myself and the other awardees are grateful to the University of Benin for recognizing our various contributions to national development. We are determined to do more for this great nation.”
Babatunde Fashola, meanwhile, urged the graduates to reciprocate the society, seeing their degrees as a service to society and the university.
“On behalf of the winners, I commit myself to the University of Benin,” he said.
