Title: A laudable initiative: Free eye care for the poor in Talata-Mafara, Zamfara West
Introduction :
As part of his commitment to the health of the most vulnerable populations, Senator Yari, representing Zamfara West in the Senate, has launched a remarkable initiative. In partnership with Visions Savers Eye Care Center, it organized a free eye care campaign at Talata-Mafara General Hospital. This operation aims to support people in precarious situations suffering from eye problems and who cannot afford to pay for medical services.
Care accessible to all:
The pilot initiative will care for 1,000 patients. The areas of Anka, Bakura, Bukkuyum, Gummi, Maradun and Talata-Mafara will be gradually included in the later phases of this intervention. The beneficiaries will mainly be elderly people, vulnerable people, women and children. They will have access to eye treatments, surgeries and medications necessary for their recovery.
A gesture appreciated by the population:
The project was welcomed by the residents of Talata-Mafara, especially the Emir of the region, Alhaji Bello Muhammad-Barmo. He described the initiative as a welcome development and social intervention for vulnerable groups. A committed medical team:
A total of 20 health professionals were mobilized to carry out this eye care operation. They will be deployed to the various processing centers in Zamfara West. Surgical procedures will be performed for patients with blindness, trachoma, glaucoma, allergies and conjunctivitis. In addition, patients will be prescribed glasses adapted to their vision problem. Complex cases will be referred to tertiary health institutions for adequate management.
