The latest events in Kasai province have marked a turning point in the justice sector. Indeed, the installation ceremony of the committee of the thematic group “Justice and Human Rights” took place recently, following close collaboration between the Ministry of Justice and the Justice Reform Support Program (PARJ2 ).
This important event brought together numerous provincial authorities, including the governor of the province, represented by the Minister of Agriculture, as well as military and civil magistrates, and actors from civil society. All responded to this call aimed at strengthening the judicial system in the region.
In his speech, the Minister of Agriculture highlighted the importance of this installation in consolidating the rule of law and improving judicial governance. He also highlighted the President of the Republic’s commitment to justice reform.
The representative of the Justice Support Program also underlined the importance given by this program to the national justice reform policy. He affirmed that PARJ2 actively supports the thematic group “Justice and Human Rights”, with the aim of guaranteeing quality justice and promoting human rights.
The deputy coordinator of the thematic group, for his part, recalled the objectives of the group, in particular access to quality justice for the most vulnerable populations and the guarantee of the independence of the judiciary. He underlined the importance of aligning the interventions of justice actors with national priorities.
Beyond the installation of the committee, the day was marked by lively discussions on the terms of reference of the thematic group, the available resources and the accessibility of judicial bodies in the region.
This initiative therefore strengthens the government’s efforts to improve the judicial system in the province of Kasai. By promoting the coordination and harmonization of actors, the “Justice and Human Rights” thematic group will contribute to guaranteeing fair justice that respects human rights for all citizens.
