“I am revolted by the events taking place in Malemba Nkulu. These images of horror are unbearable. Failing to maintain the authority of the State, the public authorities must assume their full responsibility in this tragedy which is mourning the nation . It is important to safeguard our living together,” declares Moise Katumbi.
Beyond his request to preserve unity and peaceful coexistence between different communities, Moise Katumbi also calls for helping the injured and ensuring that victims receive adequate assistance. These tensions in Malemba Nkulu began following the murder of a young motorcyclist from the locality, perpetrated by two individuals believed to be of Kasaïan origin. Faced with this tragedy, some young people from Malemba center reacted violently by carrying out retaliatory actions against Kasai nationals in the region. This spiral of violence highlights the crucial importance of social cohesion to prevent such tragedies.
To ensure calm and appeasement, the administrator of the Malemba-Nkulu territory, as well as notables in the region, also called on young people to show restraint and to favor dialogue to resolve differences.
