The worrying security situation in the east of the DRC: the national deputy demands answers

In a context marked by violence and growing instability, national deputy Jean-Baptiste Muhindo Kasweka expressed his serious concern about the security situation in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). He therefore requested an inquiry from the Prime Minister in order to obtain clear answers and concrete actions in the face of this alarming situation.

In a correspondence addressed to the president of the office of the lower house of Parliament, the North Kivu deputy highlighted the ambiguity surrounding the unilateral ceasefire and the preference for diplomatic solutions in the face of the progression of the armed group M23 and to the worsening humanitarian crisis. He believes that these measures are not sufficient to guarantee the safety of populations and calls for a firmer and more effective response.

The situation in eastern DRC has long been characterized by clashes between armed groups, human rights violations and a precarious humanitarian situation. Civilian populations are the first victims of this violence and live in great insecurity on a daily basis.

Faced with this reality, national deputy Jean-Baptiste Muhindo Kasweka believes that it is urgent to obtain answers from the government. He wishes to understand the evolution of the situation in North Kivu and Ituri, as well as the measures put in place to ensure the protection of civilian populations.

This inquiry by the Prime Minister is an opportunity for the government to provide clarifications on its security policy in the region. It is also an opportunity to explain the concrete measures that will be taken to end the violence and establish lasting peace.

The request from national deputy Jean-Baptiste Muhindo Kasweka reflects the concerns of the populations of eastern DRC. Expectations are high regarding the government’s capacity to ensure the security of citizens and to implement socio-economic development policies to escape this spiral of violence.

It is essential that the authorities provide adequate responses to this inquiry and make a firm commitment to resolving the security problems in eastern DRC. Peace and stability are essential prerequisites for the development of the region and to guarantee a better future for future generations. It is now urgent to act and find lasting solutions to end the suffering of the populations of eastern DRC.
