“Deadly attack in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo: the fight against armed groups must be strengthened”

The news is sometimes marked by tragic and unfortunate events. Unfortunately, these events are part of our daily reality. Recently, a new deadly attack perpetrated by Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels left at least 12 victims, including 5 women and 4 children. The villages of Mapipa and Sengi, located in the territory of Irumu in the Democratic Republic of Congo, were the scene of this tragedy.

According to testimonies, the attackers attacked villagers who were in their fields. The victims were killed using machetes. Some residents managed to escape this violence, but unfortunately, three people remain missing.

This deadly attack came only a day after another similar attack in the locality of Mambelenga, also in Irumu territory, where six civilians lost their lives. The situation is particularly worrying in this region, where the presence of rebel groups continues to sow terror among the population.

It is essential that the competent authorities mobilize to ensure the security of local populations and put an end to the abuses committed by the rebels. People need to feel safe at home and be able to go about their daily activities without fearing for their lives.

These attacks demonstrate the need to strengthen security measures and continue efforts to dismantle armed groups that continue to sow chaos in parts of the country. The fight against insecurity must be a priority to guarantee the stability and well-being of populations.

It is also important to emphasize the importance of solidarity and support for the victims of these attacks. Bereaved families need help and support to overcome this ordeal and rebuild their lives. Humanitarian organizations and local authorities must mobilize to provide adequate assistance and support to victims and their families.

In conclusion, these deadly attacks by ADF rebels in the Irumu region in the Democratic Republic of Congo are a tragedy that must be strongly condemned. The security of local populations must be guaranteed and concrete measures must be taken to fight against armed groups and restore peace in the region. Only in this way can residents live in peace and hope for a better future.
