On Thursday September 7, 2023, an important step was taken in the improvement of health care in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and more particularly in Kinshasa, with the inspection of the renovation work of the Center for Mixed Medicine and Anemia, known as the Mabanga Center, by the first lady, Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi. This visit aimed to ensure that the work is progressing in accordance with the established schedule, with a view to the reopening of this health structure next October.
After 7 months of intensive work, the Mabanga Center is preparing to reopen its doors, thus offering patients and nursing staff new facilities meeting the strictest health standards. This renovation will make it possible to integrate new services such as ophthalmology and dentistry, in order to meet the specific needs of patients.
The rehabilitation of the Mabanga Center is an initiative of the first lady, Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi, as part of the fight against sickle cell anemia, a genetic disease which affects a large number of people in the DRC. Thanks to the support of the Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi Foundation, patients will benefit not only from better facilities, but also from appropriate care and an environment conducive to their healing. The Foundation is also committed to raising awareness and the importance of early detection, by actively supporting patient care structures.
This initiative demonstrates the commitment of the Congolese government and civil society to improve access to health care and promote the well-being of the population. By renovating the Mabanga Center, the government is helping to strengthen the health system by providing quality medical services and introducing new specialties to meet the growing health needs of the population.
The renovation of the Mabanga Center also highlights the importance of collaboration between different stakeholders in the health sector, particularly national and international partners, in the search for sustainable solutions to improve health services in the DRC.
In conclusion, the renovation of the Center for Mixed Medicine and Anemia in Kinshasa is a significant step forward in the field of health care in the DRC. It demonstrates the commitment of the Congolese government and the first lady, Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi, to improve access to care and to offer modern facilities adapted to the needs of patients. This renovation will undoubtedly contribute to improving the quality of life of the Congolese population and strengthening the country’s health system.
