Marie Josée IFOKU, President of the Alliance of Elites for a New Congo (AENC), recently registered her candidacy for the presidential election with the Candidature Reception and Processing Office (BRTC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This candidacy makes Marie Josée IFOKU the first woman candidate for supreme office in the country.
In a statement to the press, Marie Josée IFOKU highlighted her political ideology called “kombolization”, which is based on the idea of cleaning up anti-values and bad practices. It thus offers a vision of breaking with the system of predation that has prevailed in the DRC since independence. According to her, it is time to break with this system and allow the rebirth of the country.
Marie Josée IFOKU also expressed her confidence in the current electoral process and in the President of the CENI, Denis KADIMA KAZADI. She offered her support for an in-depth reform of the CENI in order to ensure transparent elections without challenge to legitimacy.
This candidacy is attracting a lot of attention and interest, not only because of its status as the first female candidate, but also because it offers an innovative vision for the DRC. The Congolese population now has the opportunity to choose a vision of change and a break with past practices.
It remains to be seen how Marie Josée IFOKU’s candidacy will be received by the public and what her place will be in the electoral competition. The electoral campaign promises to be rich in debates and issues, and it is certain that this candidacy will bring an interesting perspective to the entire electoral process.
The DRC being a country with high potential and significant challenges to overcome, it is crucial to have candidates and new ideas to enable real development and effective governance. The candidacy of Marie Josée IFOKU testifies to the desire for change and renewal that drives many Congolese, and it is now up to the people to decide the path they wish to take for the future of the country.
