“The trial for the alleged murder of Dina Ibouanga begins: A quest for justice for a Gabonese student who tragically died in Turkey”

The trial for the murder of Jeannah “Dina” Danys Dinabongho Ibouanga opens today in Karabük, northern Turkey. The body of this 17-year-old Gabonese student was found in a river last March, sparking strong emotion and an international reaction.

Initially, the authorities had put forward the theory of suicide, but faced with pressure and concerns expressed by Dina’s family as well as Turkish feminist associations, a more in-depth investigation was carried out. The results led to the arrest of a 55-year-old man, who will be the only accused in this trial.

CCTV footage revealed Dina left her vehicle, before jumping over a fence and heading towards the river where her body was found. The suspect reportedly spent nearly seven minutes near the river before leaving.

However, many questions remain unanswered. Dina’s family claims she was subjected to harassment and racist behavior, and received messages of a sexual nature. They believe that these elements must be taken into account in the trial and that those responsible for these acts must be identified.

Dina’s father expresses his dismay at this tragedy. He emphasizes that if the family had known about the violence in Karabük, they would never have sent their daughter to study in this country. They demand justice for Dina, to show the whole world that she did not deserve this tragic end.

The trial which begins today aims to determine the responsibility of the accused in Dina’s death. He is accused of deliberate murder and attempted sexual abuse, and faces life in prison. For Dina’s family and supporters, this trial is crucial to shed light on the circumstances of her death and to obtain justice.

While awaiting the outcome of the trial, it is important to remember that violence and harassment, whatever the circumstances, must never be tolerated. Dina’s case reminds us of the importance of fighting all forms of violence and discrimination, and of protecting the most vulnerable in our society.

Hopefully this trial will help advance the truth and achieve justice for Dina and her family. This should be a constant reminder that everyone deserves the right to live safely and pursue their dreams without fear of violence or persecution.
