Elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) will be held within the constitutional deadline, declares the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI). During the closing of the training for electoral trainers on November 6, Paul Mohindo Mulemberi, deputy rapporteur of the CENI, welcomed the scrupulous respect of the established timetable. According to him, everything is in place for the deployment of electoral materials in all polling stations.
After training the trainers, more than 349,000 electoral agents will then be trained in the coming days to ensure better elections are held on December 20.
The CENI’s affirmed determination to respect the electoral calendar constitutes an important step forward for the DRC, which seeks to strengthen its democratic system and guarantee free and transparent elections. The efforts made to train a large number of electoral agents will ensure the smooth running of the electoral process and provide Congolese citizens with an environment conducive to expressing their vote.
Given the importance of these elections, it is essential that all political actors and the population in general demonstrate responsibility and respect for democratic rules. It is also crucial that the competent authorities ensure a favorable security climate, in order to allow all citizens to participate in the electoral process in complete peace.
In conclusion, the CENI’s commitment to respecting the constitutional deadline for elections in the DRC is a positive sign for democracy in the country. Training of electoral agents is an essential step in ensuring transparent and credible elections. Let us hope that these elections will mark a further step towards the consolidation of democracy in the DRC.
