News: Real-time situation in the Gaza Strip
The situation in the Gaza Strip is changing by the minute. Since the 32nd day of the war between Israel and Hamas, Israeli troops claim to have reached the “heart of Gaza City”, the capital of the Gaza Strip, described by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant as “the largest base terrorist ever built. This progress marks a new stage in the conflict, which has already caused numerous victims on both sides.
At the same time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel was considering “small tactical pauses” in the clashes, in order to allow the arrival of humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip or the evacuation of hostages held by Hamas. However, he rejected any idea of a ceasefire and affirmed that Israel intended to assume responsibility for security in Gaza once the war was over.
On the French side, more than a hundred French nationals were able to leave the Gaza Strip via the Rafah border crossing with Egypt, thanks to an operation led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This evacuation underlines the humanitarian urgency of the situation and the need for international intervention to put an end to the violence.
In Israel, a minute of silence was observed in tribute to the 1,400 victims of the Hamas attack which occurred a month ago. This tragic event is a reminder of the extent of the damage caused by this conflict and the need to quickly find a peaceful solution.
Furthermore, the death toll on the Palestinian side continues to rise, with more than 4,000 children among the 10,328 people killed during Israeli bombings. This situation highlights the urgency of international action to protect civilians and put an end to this violence.
On the diplomatic level, the heads of diplomacy of the G7 countries are meeting in Tokyo to discuss a common line on the Israel-Hamas conflict. The United States, represented by Secretary of State Antony Blinken, calls on G7 members to unite and express a clear and unified position.
Finally, the Red Cross deplored an attack on one of its humanitarian convoys which was transporting essential medical supplies to a hospital in the Gaza Strip. This incident highlights the difficulties encountered by humanitarian organizations in their work to assist populations affected by the conflict.
The real-time situation in the Gaza Strip therefore remains worrying. Events follow one another and the urgency of international action to put an end to the violence and protect civilians is more necessary than ever. The international community must act quickly and in a concerted manner to find a peaceful solution to this conflict and ensure effective humanitarian aid to the affected populations.
