Title: “FEC General Assembly Meeting 2023: Modernization of the statutes and internal regulations”
Introduction :
The Extraordinary General Assembly of the Federation of Congolese Companies (FEC) was held on November 2, 2023 in Kinshasa. Under the presidency of Albert Yuma Mulimbi, key resolutions were adopted, aimed at modernizing the statutes and internal regulations of the organization. This meeting marks an important step in the restructuring of the FEC, in order to better meet the needs of its members and adapt to the requirements of a modern organization.
Significant modifications for an optimized organization:
This meeting made it possible to bring various innovations, aimed at reorganizing the FEC and improving its functioning. Among these modifications, we can note the extension of the mandate of the National President of the FEC from 3 to 4 years, renewable once. This decision aims to ensure continuity and stability in the governance of the organization. In addition, new categories of members have been created, notably associate members, and adjustments have been made to contributions, in order to take into account the specificities of very small businesses (VSE).
A more inclusive procedure for designating the National President:
One of the major innovations concerns the method of designation of the national President of the FEC. From now on, consensus is favored, under the leadership of a Commission of Wise Men. In the event of a lack of consensus, an ad hoc electoral committee is set up. This new procedure makes it possible to encourage consultation between the different candidates, in order to find a person who benefits from everyone’s support. Once designated by the board of directors, the elected candidate is subject to approval by the General Assembly.
The path to FEC modernization:
The revision of the statutes and the adoption of new internal regulations are part of the “Renaissance” program initiated by Albert Yuma after his re-election in November 2020. These texts lay the foundations for an ambitious modernization of the FEC, by clarifying the points provided for in the statutes and regulating those which were not. The President of the FEC expresses his gratitude to the General Assembly for having adopted these modifications and calls for the involvement of all for their effective implementation.
Conclusion :
The FEC General Assembly meeting in 2023 marked a crucial step in the modernization of the organization. The modifications made to the statutes and internal regulations aim to improve the functioning of the FEC and respond more effectively to the needs of its members. The extension of the mandate of the National President, the more inclusive nomination procedure and other adjustments are all measures that will help consolidate the organization and ensure its excellence in the years to come. The FEC thus positions itself as a major player in the business world in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
