Human rights NGOs are seeking the involvement of Head of State Félix Tshisekedi to provide appropriate health care to Salomon Idi Kalonda, special advisor to Moïse Katumbi. In a press release addressed to Radio Okapi, these organizations asked the President of the Republic to grant their request, stressing that this would strengthen national cohesion.
According to NGOs, Salomon Idi Kalonda’s state of health is steadily deteriorating, as evidenced by several medical reports. They regret that their repeated requests for their client to receive adequate care have gone unanswered. NGOs believe that if Félix Tshisekedi intervened in favor of Salomon Idi Kalonda, this would demonstrate his commitment to equity and justice in the handling of cases.
In the same press release, the organizations remind the Head of State of his past fight and his high sense of humanism. They emphasize that Salomon Idi Kalonda is still at the disposal of military justice, but that the public prosecutor wishes to organize a trial despite his precarious state of health. They warn of the consequences that this could have on the image of justice and the country.
Salomon Idi Kalonda was arrested on May 30 at N’Djili airport, accused of alleged intelligence with the enemy of the DRC. The NGOs are urging President Tshisekedi to intervene and ensure proper health care for their client, in order to preserve fairness and justice in the country’s justice system.
