“Humanitarian crisis in North Kivu: Displaced families live in deplorable conditions in Mighobwe village, call for urgent aid”

Families displaced in deplorable conditions in Mighobwe village, Lubero territory

In the Lubero territory, in North Kivu, several displaced families from the Rutshuru territory live in precarious and deplorable conditions. It has already been three weeks since they found refuge in the Mighobwe village, but they have not benefited from adequate humanitarian assistance. The situation is alarming, because these families lack everything: food, shelter, clothing and other basic necessities.

According to Samuel Kahamba, president of the local society, their care has become increasingly difficult, as new waves of displaced people continue to arrive in the region. These families are fleeing clashes between the coalition of local armed groups and the M23 rebels, which have been raging in the region for some time.

Displaced families are forced to find shelter with host families, but even these live in miserable conditions. Access to food is difficult and resources are limited. Host families are doing their best to help these displaced people, but they too are facing financial and material difficulties.

Faced with this critical situation, Samuel Kahamba launches an urgent appeal to the government and humanitarian partners to come to the aid of these displaced families. He emphasizes the importance of rapid and adequate assistance, not only in terms of food, but also non-food items, such as clothing, blankets and hygiene items.

It is essential that these displaced families receive appropriate support so that they can rebuild their lives in dignified conditions. The already precarious situation in the Lubero territory is further aggravated by the continued arrival of new displaced people. It is therefore imperative that action be taken quickly to meet their urgent needs.

The humanitarian crisis in North Kivu cannot be neglected. It is our duty to show solidarity with these displaced families and support them in their struggle for a better life. The situation requires immediate and coordinated action by local authorities, government and humanitarian organizations to provide relief to the most vulnerable people in this troubled region of Congo.
