Mining companies in Lualaba province in the DRC under the control of the ARSP
The mining company Musonoie (COMMUS) SA, based in the province of Lualaba, was recently inspected by the Regulatory Authority for Subcontracting in the Private Sector (ARSP). Led by its general director, Miguel Kashal Katemb, the ARSP delegation noted several problems in the subcontracting practices of this mining company. Consequently, the ARSP decided to place the company Musonoie (COMMUS) SA under its control.
The Inspector General, Miguel Katemb, pledged to strictly enforce the law on subcontracting within the company in order to guarantee the economic independence of the country, in accordance with the wishes of the Head of State. This decision marks a new stage in the economic history of the DRC.
This inspection highlighted problems linked to subcontracting within the company. An entrepreneur spoke out on this issue, deploring the non-compliance with the law on subcontracting and the difficulty of accessing certain supplies from the company. The entrepreneur expressed his satisfaction with the ARSP inspection, hoping that this control mission will help improve the situation and unlock certain practices.
Musonoie (COMMUS) SA thus joins the list of mining companies in the province of Lualaba placed under the control of the ARSP, alongside Fungurume, Kamoa and KCC. This approach demonstrates ARSP’s commitment to ensuring compliance with legislation regarding subcontracting in the mining sector.
In conclusion, the inspection of the mining company Musonoie (COMMUS) SA by the ARSP highlights the problems encountered in the area of subcontracting and non-compliance with the law. This initiative aims to guarantee the economic independence of the DRC and to develop a more transparent and rule-compliant mining sector. The ARSP thus continues its control and regulation work to improve practices in private sector companies.
