Introduction :

President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo recently inaugurated a brand new state-of-the-art customs post in Kasumbalesa, on the border of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia. This infrastructure, which includes a modern 2,600 square meter building and a series of other facilities, demonstrates the president’s desire to combat customs fraud and smuggling while maximizing state revenue. This project was carried out thanks to a partnership between the General Directorate of Customs and Excise (DGDA) and the Congolese company TRAFIGO SARL, managed by Magalie Kayitesi Raway.

A modernized customs post for greater efficiency:

The new Kasumbalesa customs post stands out for its modern infrastructure and state-of-the-art operational equipment. The 2,600 square meter building houses the customs services and has all the tools necessary for the efficient processing of customs files. In addition to the main building, other developments have been made, such as an 8 kilometer reinforced concrete bypass road, bonded warehouses and accommodation for customs officers. Two import-export parking lots with a capacity of 1,500 trucks were also built.

TRAFIGO SARL’s involvement in maximizing customs revenue:

The Congolese company TRAFIGO SARL, headed by Magalie Kayitesi Raway, played a crucial role in the modernization of the Kasumbalesa customs post. Thanks to a reliable and secure system, it has helped to maximize customs revenue and fight against fraud. This system includes efficient tax and royalty traceability software, transparent procedures integrated into the banking system and a management policy focused on ethics and human resources training. The results speak for themselves, with an average increase in customs revenue of 700 to 1,000% from the first year of implementation.

The case of the Kasumbalesa customs post is considered an example to follow in the fight against customs fraud in the sub-region. Thanks to the system put in place by TRAFIGO SARL, the DGDA was able to secure and channel State revenue effectively. This has increased the resources needed to facilitate cross-border trade and stimulate development in the region. Congolese female entrepreneurship is also highlighted, with the involvement of Magalie Kayitesi Raway in this project.
