“Life here: a vibrant chronicle that leaves a void”

Life here: a chronicle that leaves a void

For five years, the cities of Abidjan, Dakar, Kinshasa, Libreville, Lagos, Conakry, Bujumbura, Yaoundé, Bukavu, N’Djamena and Lomé have opened their doors to us every morning on RFI. The column “Life Here” transported us into their daily lives, introduced us to their taste, their reading, their music, their initiative, their mood. But unfortunately, everything comes to an end, and this October 26 marks the end of this captivating chronicle.

This project, which allowed for great encounters, real or virtual, in the studio or remotely, was a true ode to diversity and the richness of our African cultures. The contributors to this column have shared with us their experiences, their experiences, their stories, thus inviting us to explore a reality different from ours and to broaden our horizons.

We would therefore like to warmly thank all the contributors for their commitment and hard work. Their columns will remain available for replay on the RFI website and on the Pure radio application, allowing all those who missed an episode or who wish to relive this unique experience to do so at any time.

However, this announcement leaves us with a taste of unfinished business, a certain sadness. The column “Life Here” had become a real part of our daily life, a window open to other realities, a source of inspiration and discovery. His disappearance will leave a void in our mornings, depriving us of these stories which transported us elsewhere, to African soil.

But this ending is not an end in itself, it is the beginning of a new chapter. Because life continues, stories continue to be told, experiences continue to be shared. And we remain on the lookout for new chronicles, new stories, new perspectives.

So, dear contributors to “Life Here”, we hope to see you again very soon for the rest of your adventures. And to all listeners and readers, stay tuned, the diversity and enrichment are only just beginning.

In the meantime, let’s go back to the previous articles and listen again to these voices dear to our ears, these testimonies which have touched us so much. And let’s continue to explore, to learn, to understand. Because this is how we grow, how we evolve, how we become citizens of the world.
