Jean-Luc Mélenchon visiting Kinshasa: a constructive dialogue between Europe and Africa
The leader of France Insoumise, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, recently began a stay in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), accompanied by a French parliamentary delegation. This visit, linked to the release of his book “Do Better! Towards the Citizen’s Revolution”, is intended to be a real dialogue between Europe and Africa.
During his stay, Jean-Luc Mélenchon plans to meet Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi as well as other dignitaries from the country. The University of Kinshasa will play a central role in the activities of the political leader, since a conference is planned for October 30. Mélenchon also planned to visit the Mangroves marine park in Muanda, demonstrating his interest in biodiversity and the environment.
Upon his arrival in Kinshasa, Jean-Luc Mélenchon made remarks marked by humility, calling for a rethinking of Europe in the face of the dynamism of the African continent. He stressed that Europeans must show humility in the face of a constantly changing world, while Europe was sometimes slower to understand these upheavals.
Although he came as a learner and not as a political advisor, Mélenchon is enthusiastic about the idea of dialoguing with Congolese society and understanding the dynamism that reigns there. He believes that the difficulties overcome by the Congolese people are fascinating and deserve to be studied closely.
Jean-Luc Mélenchon also wants to clarify that he does not intend to interfere in the Congolese elections. Its main objective is to learn and collaborate, while respecting the realities and needs of the DRC. His visit will continue until October 31, and the French parliamentary delegation will carry out procedures and activities in parallel with that of the political leader.
This visit by Jean-Luc Mélenchon to Kinshasa marks an important step in the dialogue between Europe and Africa. By emphasizing humility, learning and mutual understanding, it helps strengthen ties between the two continents and paves the way for future fruitful collaborations.
