Rally of Moïse Katumbi in Lubumbashi: a call for transparency for peaceful elections
Monday October 23, political leader Moïse Katumbi, president of “Ensemble pour la République”, arrived in Lubumbashi, in the province of Haut-Katanga, from Tanzania. Upon his arrival, a rally was organized in front of his party headquarters on Kamanyola Avenue, during which he sent a strong message: that of transparency for peaceful elections.
In his speech to his activists and supporters, Moïse Katumbi claimed to be a man of peace, emphasizing the importance of democracy for building a nation. He expressed his wish to see the country move towards elections in a climate of peace, where the best candidates win in a transparent manner.
Pleading for respect for his political adversaries as competitors and not as enemies, Moïse Katumbi called on his supporters to be vigilant and to prioritize peace, recalling that it is peace which guarantees the development of the country.
Before Moïse Katumbi’s speech, Christian Mwando, his high representative, welcomed the validation of Moïse Katumbi’s candidacy by the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI). He also called on the Constitutional Court to prioritize peace in its decisions.
This gathering of Moïse Katumbi in Lubumbashi testifies to the political ferment currently reigning in the Democratic Republic of Congo. As the elections prepare, calls for transparency and peace are increasing, testifying to the Congolese people’s aspiration for fair and peaceful elections.
In a tense political context, where all eyes are on the next elections, it is essential that political leaders advocate transparency and peace. The Congolese are waiting for credible and democratic elections, which will help build a better future for their country.
It remains to be seen whether the calls of Moïse Katumbi and other political leaders will be heard and whether the upcoming elections will meet the expectations of the Congolese people. Transparency and peace are essential pillars of a successful electoral process and will guarantee the legitimacy of the next Congolese government.
