The Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) recently launched an awareness campaign in view of the general elections which will take place in December 2023. The objective of this campaign is to encourage massive participation of the Congolese population in these elections.
Denis Kadima Kazadi, president of the CENI, stressed the importance of preparing voters to correctly play their role in these elections. He stressed that maximum mobilization of voters and the inclusion of all categories of citizens are major issues.
The awareness campaign aims to train and inform voters on the legal and regulatory provisions relating to electoral operations, as well as on the conduct to be taken in a polling station and in front of the Electronic Voting Device (DEV). Particular attention will be paid to young people and women, who constitute a large part of the voting population.
As an institution supporting democracy, the CENI also has the responsibility of popularizing the laws relating to the electoral process and coordinating the civic education campaign for the population in electoral matters.
To ensure the success of this campaign, the CENI launched a call for the mobilization of civil society partners, such as popular associations, religious denominations, women’s and youth organizations, as well as the media, particularly radios. community.
