Humanitarian aid finally accessible to Gaza thanks to the opening of the Rafah crossing
Good news for the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip, the long-awaited humanitarian aid will finally be able to pass through the Rafah crossing into Egypt. This announcement was made by American President Joe Biden and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi, underscoring their desire to provide essential support to the population in distress.
To begin with, Russia plans to soon send 27 tons of humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza, via Egypt. An initiative which demonstrates international solidarity with the Palestinians and which will help to relieve populations affected by violence and forced displacement.
For his part, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, during a solidarity visit to Israel, expressed his support for the country while calling for an acceleration of the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. A legitimate request given the seriousness of the humanitarian situation there.
Unfortunately, the war between Hamas and Israel has also affected the French community. Indeed, the Quai d’Orsay announced a tragic toll of 28 French victims killed during Hamas attacks against Israel, and seven other French nationals are still missing. A situation which highlights the importance of rapid and effective intervention to protect civilians and provide the necessary aid.
According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, the death toll in the region continues to rise, with 3,785 dead since the start of the conflict. Among them, women, children and the elderly, who are paying the high price of a war that has lasted too long. In addition, nearly 12,500 people were injured, highlighting the urgency of rapid and safe access to humanitarian aid.
In conclusion, the opening of the Rafah crossing finally offers a glimmer of hope for the residents of the Gaza Strip. Thanks to international mobilization and the commitment of the countries concerned, humanitarian aid will now be able to reach its destination and relieve the suffering of the populations. It is essential to maintain this momentum of solidarity to ensure lasting assistance and rebuild a better future for Gaza together.
