Reconstruction of the administrative building of the municipal house in N’djili – An ambitious project for a booming municipality
The Congolese government has launched work to reconstruct the administrative building of the N’djili communal house, as well as the development of two public spaces, for a total amount of $15.3 million. This announcement was made by the Minister of Infrastructure and Public Works, Alexis Gisaro Muvunyi, during a launching ceremony in Kinshasa.
This work, which will be carried out by the Chinese company WIETC, will extend over a period of 18 months. The cost of rebuilding the administrative building and the town square is estimated at $5.4 million, while work on Place Sainte Thérèse will cost $9.9 million.
The project includes the construction of a new municipal house with its surrounding area, as well as other facilities such as a police station, a pavilion housing a library, a Red Cross area, a cafeteria and public toilets. In addition, the building of the Municipal Youth Council will be renovated.
As for Place Sainte Thérèse, it will be developed with landscaped spaces, sports and leisure facilities, such as a main football field, training rooms, changing rooms, a multi-purpose room, and many other infrastructures.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Public Works, Alexis Gisaro Muvunyi, stressed that this project is part of the Kin-Elenda program, which aims to modernize and strengthen the resilience of Kinshasa. He also noted that this project benefits from an active partnership between the Democratic Republic of Congo and the World Bank.
The Director of Operations of the World Bank was keen to emphasize that the Kin-Elenda project aims to finance projects with a direct impact on the population, as part of the World Bank’s vision to reduce poverty.
The reconstruction of the administrative building of the municipal house and the development of public spaces in N’djili represent an important step in the development of this municipality. These new developments will offer its inhabitants an improved living environment and will allow N’djili to position itself as a modern and attractive commune.
