“The CENI launches an awareness campaign for participatory elections in the DRC”

The Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) of the DRC launched this Friday, October 20, the awareness campaign for the presidential, legislative and municipal elections which will take place on December 20. The objective of this campaign is to improve the quality of voter participation and to mobilize all categories of citizens.

During this launching ceremony, chaired by Denis Kadima, president of the CENI, representatives of civil society and other personalities were present. Denis Kadima called for the mobilization of partners from civil society, religious denominations, women’s organizations, youth organizations and the media, particularly community radios, to ensure good voter awareness, particularly in urban areas. rural.

Didi Manara, second vice-president of the CENI, stressed that the responsibility for raising awareness does not rest only on the CENI, but also on political parties, the media, state institutions, civil society organizations and technical and financial partners.

As part of this campaign, several awareness tools were presented, such as leaflets on the different elections, leaflets on electoral offenses and criminal sanctions, as well as a song on voting. In addition, electronic voting devices (EVDs) were presented and a test vote was organized.

Support for defective cards was also discussed during this ceremony. The CENI plans to replace them, going beyond the territories, in the coming weeks.

It is important to remember that the CENI has published the provisional list of candidates for the presidential election. Twenty-four candidates are in the running to succeed Félix Tshisekedi, candidate for his own succession.

This awareness campaign is crucial to guarantee active and informed participation of voters in the next elections in the DRC. The mobilization of all stakeholders, from the media to civil society organizations and state institutions, is essential to ensure the smooth running of this electoral process.
