Humanitarian aid finally on its way to Gaza thanks to the opening of the Rafah crossing
Good news for the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip, the long-awaited humanitarian aid will be able to be delivered to the population thanks to the opening of the Rafah crossing through Egypt. This was announced by the American president, Joe Biden, and the Egyptian president, Abdel Fattah al-Sissi. This decision will help ease the suffering of Palestinians who have been hit hard by recent clashes between Israel and Hamas.
Russia is also mobilizing to support civilians in Gaza by soon delivering 27 tonnes of humanitarian aid through Egypt. The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations confirmed this initiative which aims to provide concrete assistance to the most vulnerable populations.
This transparent and urgent humanitarian aid is all the more necessary as the death toll continues to rise. The Gaza Ministry of Health announced that since the start of the conflict, 3,785 people have lost their lives, mainly women, children and the elderly. More than 12,500 people were injured in the violence according to the same sources.
Faced with this tragic situation, many countries are mobilizing to offer their support. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak reaffirms his solidarity with Israel while calling for the entry of humanitarian aid into the besieged Gaza Strip to be accelerated. The Quai d’Orsay announces that the number of French victims now stands at 28 dead, with seven other people still missing.
The opening of the Rafah crossing and the delivery of humanitarian aid are therefore crucial steps in managing this humanitarian crisis. It is more essential than ever to act quickly and effectively to relieve the suffering of civilian populations and rebuild life in these areas devastated by the conflict. Let us hope that thanks to international mobilization, the people of Gaza will finally be able to receive the help they desperately need.
