“SICOMINES is mobilizing for the education of young girls: a donation to the Gombe technical high school”

The solemn presentation of donations took place on Wednesday October 11, 2023 at the prestigious Gombe technical high school. This event brought together the provincial coordinator of Catholic Convention Schools (ECCATH), Father Romain Nyanga, as well as a delegation from Sicomines SA/Kinshasa led by Grace Sasesula. The godmother of this generous initiative, Ms. Jackie Bapile, prefect of studies, was present to receive the donations on behalf of the most important beneficiaries: her students.

In her speech, Grace Kasesula from SICOMINES S.A explained the reasons for this donation. She stressed the importance of supporting the education of young girls to promote their development and offer them a promising future. This is why SICOMINES chose the Gombe technical high school to provide support and provide the equipment necessary for the education of students.

For the high school prefect, Jackie Bapile, providing quality training to children is essential, and this requires high quality equipment. She also highlighted that through this training, students can quickly start working in a profession and earn their own money in their first year of study, allowing them to take charge of their own future. Jackie Bapile is therefore delighted with this initiative which will further improve the training of young girls and help them take control of their destiny.

Father Romain Nyanga, provincial coordinator of Catholic schools, stressed the importance of quality training for young girls, because this guarantees a solid home for the future. He praised the SICOMINES initiative which thus contributes to the comprehensive training of young girls, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The high school students expressed their gratitude for this donation, highlighting the dire need for educational equipment. They also hoped that SICOMINES would renew this generosity in other schools, in order to continue supporting the education of young girls.

SICOMINES SA, a Congolese company with 100% Congolese and Chinese participation, has already carried out many similar actions in the Lualaba province and elsewhere in the country. In addition to its mining activities, the company engages in social projects such as health, education, water, electrification, environment and agricultural roads in order to contribute to the development of the country.

This donation to the Gombe technical high school is a concrete example of SICOMINES’ commitment to the education of young girls. Hopefully this initiative will not be the last and that other educational establishments will be able to benefit from this valuable support.
