“Satisfaction of Kwamouth civil society: the Government invests in security to restore peace”

Civil society in the territory of Kwamouth, in the province of Mai-Ndombe, is finally breathing a little easier. Indeed, she says she is satisfied with the means that the Government has made available to the army to restore peace in the region. For a year, this region has been prey to the activism of the armed Mobondo militia, thus creating a worrying climate of insecurity.

According to the president of the citizens’ organization, Martin Suta, the security situation is starting to improve thanks to the measures put in place by the Government: “We have noticed that the Government is starting to take steps to ensure security everywhere, including throughout the province of Mai-Ndombe. We noted that it supports the soldiers in operational positions and that it equips them to guarantee their mobility. This is an encouraging signal that pushes civil society to appreciate the efforts of the Government”.

This satisfaction of civil society testifies to the hope found in the population of Kwamouth. Indeed, the president of the organization recommends that the Government persevere in this direction in order to completely restore peace in the region. The deployment of the army and the security measures taken give the inhabitants of Kwamouth the hope of finally being able to participate in the elections scheduled for next December.

“The military has already issued an ultimatum to the Mobondo militiamen, asking them to leave the forests while awaiting the tracking operation. In addition, a measure of pardon has been granted to peaceful citizens so that they can leave the forest in complete safety “We encourage the Government to continue this momentum by putting in place security measures so that the rule of law is restored in Kwamouth. Resolving the registration problem will allow us to be ready for the elections,” says Martin Suta .

The return of peace will not only allow the people of Kwamouth to participate in elections, but also to rebuild and develop their territory. Let us hope that this positive trend continues and that security is permanently restored to Kwamouth, providing a better future for the residents of this region.
