Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi and Bineta Diop: a partnership to promote women’s health and rights in the DRC

As part of her mission in favor of women in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Bineta Diop, special envoy of the President of the African Union Commission, met Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi, First Lady of the DRC. During their meeting, the two personalities reviewed the various actions undertaken by the First Lady in favor of women’s health and rights.

One of the achievements praised by Bineta Diop is the care of sickle cell patients in the DRC. The First Lady has been heavily involved in the fight against this serious illness which affects many people in the DRC. Her involvement in raising awareness and caring for patients with sickle cell disease was highly appreciated by Bineta Diop, who stressed the importance of replicating this model in other African countries.

In addition to her commitment to the fight against sickle cell anemia, Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi has also been praised for her action against violence against women. The Fonarev initiative, aimed at protecting women victims of violence, was particularly highlighted by Bineta Diop. The latter encouraged the First Lady to continue her efforts in this area and to share her experience with other First Ladies of Africa, in order to strengthen actions in favor of women across the continent.

Bineta Diop also advocated for the involvement of Congolese women in political decisions and negotiations for lasting peace. She called on Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi to take initiatives to encourage greater representation of women in these areas, by working in collaboration with political parties and the President of the Republic.

The visit of the African Union delegation to the DRC will continue with a trip to Goma, where new meetings and exchanges will take place as part of the promotion of women’s rights.

In conclusion, the partnership between Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi and Bineta Diop is a concrete example of the importance of collaboration and mobilization in favor of women’s health and rights in the DRC. The actions undertaken by the First Lady and her involvement in the fight against sickle cell anemia and violence against women are inspiring examples to follow. It is essential that Congolese women are better represented and actively participate in decision-making to build a better future for all.
