CAN 2024 in Ivory Coast: Discover the composition of the groups!
The draw for the 2024 African Cup of Nations (CAN) took place yesterday in Abidjan, revealing the different compositions of the six groups. This competition, which will be held from January 13 to February 11, promises to be rich in emotions and exciting encounters.
In group A, we find Ivory Coast, host country of the competition, alongside Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau. A group which promises to be strong, notably with the presence of Nigeria, accustomed to the final stages of the CAN.
In group B, we find Egypt, with its star Mohamed Salah, associated with Ghana, Cape Verde and Mozambique. An interesting group, where Egypt and Ghana start as favorites, but where Cape Verde could create a surprise.
Group C will pit Senegal, reigning champion, Cameroon, Guinea and Gambia against each other. A group which promises to be very competitive, with Senegal, who will try to retain their title, and Cameroon, accustomed to major events.
Group D will see Algeria, semi-finalist of the last World Cup, Burkina Faso, Mauritania and Angola compete. A balanced group, where Algeria will start as favorite, but will have to be wary of its opponents.
Group E brings together Tunisia, Mali, South Africa and Namibia. A group where Tunisia, accustomed to the final stages of the CAN, will have the status of favorite, but where Mali and South Africa hope to create a surprise.
Finally, in group F, we find Morocco, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia and Tanzania. An open group, where Morocco seems best equipped to qualify, but where all results are possible.
This CAN 2024 therefore promises to be exciting, with high-level meetings and open competition. The favorites will have to be wary of surprises and the outsiders will be keen to find a place among the best. See you next January to experience the explosion of African football in Ivory Coast!
