“The promotion of exports and economic development at the heart of a meeting between Vital Kamerhe and Mary Ng”
Deputy Prime Minister of National Economy, Vital Kamerhe, recently met with Canadian Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development, Mary Ng. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the Canada-Africa economic forum, entitled “Accelerating Africa 2023”. The objective of this meeting was to discuss the needs of the Democratic Republic of Congo in terms of economic development and to promote exports.
During this meeting, Vital Kamerhe presented an overview of the actions undertaken by the Congolese government in different sectors, particularly the mining and agricultural sectors. He highlighted the efforts of President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo aimed at improving the business climate in order to attract foreign investors. He particularly insisted on the need to link the mining and agricultural sectors, with the aim of promoting the economic development of the country. He also spoke of the importance of the interconnection of African countries, with the DRC as a central point, and underlined the need to invest in infrastructure to promote regional and economic integration, in connection with the Free Zone. -African continental exchange (ZLECAF).
For her part, Mary Ng praised the efforts of the Congolese government and expressed Canada’s interest in sustainable development projects with a positive impact on local communities. She underlined the importance of the development of small and medium-sized businesses as well as the private sector, considered key players in the economic development of all countries.
This meeting between Vital Kamerhe and Mary Ng demonstrates the importance given by both countries to the promotion of exports and economic development. It also opens the way to sharing experiences between Canada and the DRC, which have similarities in terms of natural resources. The opportunities offered by the hydraulic wealth of the DRC, with its numerous rivers and lakes, are all potential profitable collaborations for the two countries.
