Every year on October 11, the International Day of the Girl Child is celebrated to promote the empowerment of girls and respect for their human rights. On this symbolic day, it is crucial to focus on the importance of girls’ education and the prospects it offers for a better future. By interviewing young girls from Kinshasa, we were able to gather their points of view on this essential subject.
Point of view 1: Education, a means of being useful to society
According to Bibica Pandi, a schoolgirl at Kabambare high school, access to education should be obvious for everyone, girls and boys. She says that school allows you to learn to read and write, thus helping to make girls useful to society. She therefore encourages all girls to study as it will benefit them in the long run.

Samantha Kavira emphasizes that educating girls is essential to combat poverty. By giving young girls the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills, education opens them to professional opportunities and helps them build their future.
