Clashes between young resistance fighters from the “Wazalendo” self-defense group and M23-RDF terrorists have intensified recently in the Kitchanga region in Masisi territory. These fighting took place around the strategic city, endangering the security of local civilian populations.
During this day, the resistance managed to chase away the M23 terrorists from the localities of Kibarizo, Kirumbu and Busumba. They then took control of the strategic Mubugu hill, which overlooks the city of Kitchanga. This success was welcomed by the inhabitants of the region, who see in these resistance fighters a glimmer of hope for their security.
The M23-RDF terrorists, supported by the Rwandan army, were forced to take refuge in Kahe, a few kilometers from Kitchanga center, while the resistance fighters settled on strategic hills to prepare for any eventuality.
In a new confrontation, the resistance managed to enter the city of Kitchanga, thus abandoning control of the city center to the Burundian contingents of the EAC. The M23 terrorists find themselves stuck in the hills of Bwiza.
This situation testifies to the determination and resilience of the “Wazalendo” resistance fighters who are fighting valiantly against terrorists to preserve the security of their region.
