The importance of mental health in our daily lives is increasingly recognized. Indeed, our mental well-being is essential to face life’s challenges, realize our full potential and contribute positively to our community. This is why mental health awareness is crucial.
As part of this awareness-raising, MONUSCO Beni-Lubero launched a series of activities throughout the month dedicated to mental health. The Acting Head of Office, Abdourahamane Ganda, highlights the importance of this initiative, stating that mental health is a fundamental tool for those seeking to promote peace. Before you can deliver peace to others, it is essential to be at peace with yourself.
Among the activities organized, a health walk was organized to raise awareness among United Nations staff and the local community of Beni. This walk, which covered 7 kilometers, aimed to highlight the individual, social and structural determinants of mental health, and to encourage action to reduce risks and increase resilience.
In addition to the walk, other activities such as football and volleyball matches were organized to engage staff and promote mental health awareness.
It is important to take care of your mental health and not hesitate to seek help if necessary. MONUSCO Beni psychologist, Edwige Emilie Kouamen, encourages everyone to listen to their body and not to be alone in the face of their problems.
Participation in these awareness-raising activities allowed participants to relax, share moments of joy and break away from certain everyday problems.
The promotion of mental health is a key issue in our society. It is essential to understand that mental health is as important as physical health and deserves our full attention. By supporting these awareness initiatives, we are one step closer to a society that values and protects the mental well-being of everyone.
