Training in digital agriculture in Mbuji-Mayi, Kasaï-Oriental

The African Agricultural Leadership Institute (AALI) recently organized training in digital agriculture in Mbuji-Mayi, in the Kasai-Oriental province. For two days, more than 60 participants, including agronomy students, inspectors, agronomists and entrepreneurs, had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge on digital management of agriculture.

Digital agriculture is an area that is gaining importance in the African agricultural sector. The use of digital technologies helps improve crop yields and combat food insecurity. During this training, participants were able to discover different tools and applications, such as crop disease detection and plot mapping using drones and GPS systems.

This modern approach to agriculture was particularly appreciated by the participants. Doris Ndaya, one of the participants, emphasizes the importance of being able to control and closely monitor one’s work. Disease detection measures make it possible to take preventive measures and avoid crop losses.

The African Institute of Agricultural Leadership also has brigades of young people trained to support agricultural stakeholders in the implementation of modernized agricultural techniques, such as mechanization, livestock breeding and fish farming. This initiative aims to promote the transformation of African agriculture and strengthen food security in the region.

This training in digital agriculture in Mbuji-Mayi is an important step in the modernization of the agricultural sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo. By empowering farmers to use digital technologies effectively, it is possible to increase yields, reduce costs and help combat food insecurity.
