New sector head of Basonge 2: A historic handover after 58 years of reign
In a historic transfer of power, Sefu Lumbule officially took office as the new sector head of Basonge 2, replacing Kawaya Mwana Mufula who had been in office for 58 years. The installation ceremony took place on Wednesday October 4, in the presence of the assistant territorial administrator in charge of the economy and finances of Kasongo.
Sefu Lumbule is committed to making his contribution to the development of the Basonge 2 Mweho sector. In his speech, he underlined his commitment to healthy, transparent and orthodox management, with the aim of meeting the expectations of the population. Among the challenges he will have to face, he notably mentioned the lack of drinking water and agricultural service roads, but he remains determined to overcome them with the desire for change advocated by the Head of State.
In addition to its development mission, Sefu Lumbule also made a commitment to raise awareness among the inhabitants of Basonge 2 about the electoral process underway in the country. Indeed, as the DRC continues to work towards a more robust democracy, it is essential to ensure that all citizens are informed and can actively participate in decisions that concern them.
This handover marks the end of an era for Kawaya Mwana Mufula, who was a dedicated sector leader for 58 years. He expressed his gratitude to the authorities and the population for the trust and support he received throughout his mandate. He also said he was ready to support his successor in his new role, recognizing that the challenges awaiting him are not easy to meet.
This transition at the head of the Basonge 2 Mweho sector comes following the appointment of the sector heads of the DRC by ministerial decree last August. It demonstrates the importance given to renewal and the diversity of responsibilities within local structures.
In conclusion, the new sector head of Basonge 2, Sefu Lumbule, is determined to bring positive change and meet the expectations of the population. His taking office marks a new era for the sector, after 58 years of reign of Kawaya Mwana Mufula. This transfer of power demonstrates the Congolese government’s commitment to strengthening local governance and giving citizens the means to actively participate in the development of their community.
