Justice in Action: Raising awareness of electoral monitoring to ensure the legitimacy of institutions

The citizen movement Justice in Action (MJA) recently organized training in Kinshasa to raise awareness about the importance of electoral monitoring. As the Democratic Republic of Congo prepares for a new electoral cycle including presidential, national and provincial legislative elections, the MJA believes that “increased citizen vigilance” is necessary to avoid contested electoral results and prevent legitimacy crises. institutions.

The project entitled “TIKALA NA CENTRE”, set up by the MJA, aims to strengthen the understanding of elections and electoral observation among the Congolese population. The objective is to instill in future voters that voting is an essential means of exercising their most legitimate right, and that it is crucial to protect this right against any form of electoral fraud. The MJA thus wishes to empower voters and make them aware of the ills affecting Congolese society, so that they do not vote on the basis of subjective considerations such as tribalism or vote currency.

As the elections scheduled for December 20 approach, around twenty candidacies have been submitted, including those of personalities such as Félix Tshisekedi, Martin Fayulu, Moïse Katumbi, Denis Mukwege, Matata Ponyo, Delly Sesanga and Noël Tshiani.

The Justice in Action citizen movement takes to heart its role of raising awareness and training Congolese voters, with the aim of promoting increased vigilance and citizen participation during the electoral process. By emphasizing the importance of legitimate electoral results, the MJA hopes to contribute to the consolidation of democracy in the DRC.

As the country prepares for a crucial electoral period, it is essential to remind Congolese citizens of their responsibility as voters. Transparent and legitimate elections are essential to maintain citizens’ trust in institutions and promote political stability. The work of the Justice in Action citizen movement thus contributes to strengthening the civic awareness and commitment of the Congolese population to a fair and equitable electoral process.

In conclusion, electoral monitoring plays an essential role in democracy and in the consolidation of legitimate institutions. The citizen movement Justice in Action, through its project “TIKALA NA CENTRE”, works to raise awareness and train Congolese voters, in order to promote responsible citizen participation and increased vigilance during the next elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
