“Strengthening local development in the DRC: The international conference on community development plans not to be missed!”

The international conference on the implementation of local community development plans (PLDC) will be held from October 16 to 17 in Kinshasa. This event, organized by the Ministry of Social Affairs, aims to support the development efforts of local communities.

As part of the preparation for this conference, a workshop was held on October 3 in Kinshasa. The participants validated three key documents: a model for promoting rural entrepreneurship based on agribusiness, a collection of PLDC norms and standards and a directory of innovative professions from this program.

This initiative aims to respond to the aspirations of grassroots communities, who were consulted throughout 2022. It is part of the national strategic development plan and complements the development program of 145 territories in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The Social Fund of the DRC (FSRDC), represented by its national coordinator Philippe Nguala, is strongly involved in this process. According to him, this international conference will make it possible to present and validate these deliverables, but also to strengthen the partnership between actors and stakeholders to promote the modernization of socio-economic governance at the local level.

Alice Mirimo, general director of the National Fund for Promotion and Social Service (FNPSS), underlines the importance of this conference in establishing a real social contract between the head of state and the grassroots population. Preparations for the event are already advanced, and it is expected to provide opportunities for dialogue and collaboration to foster the socio-economic development of local communities.

Modeste Mutinga, Minister of Social Affairs, recalls that this program has a transversal, multi-sectoral and unifying dimension. Its objective is to support the pooling of efforts and promote synergy between the different actors in order to promote social progress at the local level.

In conclusion, the international conference on the implementation of local community development plans in the DRC is a major event which aims to strengthen development efforts at the local level. By promoting collaboration and synergy between stakeholders, it offers promising prospects for improving socio-economic governance and the social progress of grassroots communities.
