Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, will soon have provincial elections. The Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) has published the list of political parties and groups which have reached the admissibility threshold to participate in these elections.
Among the 80 political parties selected, we find historic groups such as the Congo Liberation Movement (MLC) and the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS). In addition, 69 political groups also managed to reach the required threshold.
The city province of Kinshasa has 44 seats to be filled in these elections. For each list, the admissibility threshold was set at 27 applications. In total, 5,618 candidates will run for provincial deputies in Kinshasa, among whom 2,261 come from political parties, 2,849 from political groups and 508 are independent candidates.
It is important to emphasize that these provincial elections are being organized for the second time in the Democratic Republic of Congo, after those of December 2018. The results of these elections will have a significant impact on the political life of the Congolese capital and on the representation of the different political parties and groups.
These provincial elections will allow the citizens of Kinshasa to choose their local representatives and actively participate in the democratic life of their province. The results of these elections will also help shape the Congolese political landscape and influence political decisions taken at the provincial level.
It will therefore be interesting to closely follow these provincial elections in Kinshasa and to see what the political consequences of this election will be. The results of these elections will certainly have an impact on the future of the Congolese capital and on the way it will be governed in the years to come.
