News: Félix Tshisekedi nominated candidate of the Sacred Union for the 2023 presidential election
Monday October 2, 2023 – Félix Tshisekedi, President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, was officially designated candidate of the Sacred Union for the presidential election of December 2023. This announcement was expected, as it was obvious that the ruling party, the UDPS, would support his candidacy.
The designation ceremony took place yesterday in Kinshasa, in the presence of numerous political figures. Félix Tshisekedi was unanimously approved by the members of the Sacred Union, thus confirming his position as favorite to win the vote.
This designation is not surprising, because Félix Tshisekedi was already considered the natural candidate of the Sacred Union. The other members of the political coalition also expressed their full support for his candidacy. Influential figures such as Jean-Pierre Bemba, Vital Kamerhe, Bahati Lukwebo and Mboso Nkodia have all supported Félix Tshisekedi.
This decision to support Félix Tshisekedi marks a turning point in the Congolese political landscape, because previous presidential elections were often marked by strong competition between the different opposition candidates. This time, the Sacred Union seems to have succeeded in uniting its forces behind a single candidate, in the interest of the political stability and economic development of the country.
Félix Tshisekedi will now face many challenges in his electoral campaign. He will have to convince Congolese voters that his presidential mandate has been beneficial for the country and that he is the best choice for the future. He will also face fierce opposition from other candidates, who are sure to question his legitimacy and his record.
This presidential election will be a decisive moment for the Democratic Republic of Congo. Voters will have to choose between continuity with Félix Tshisekedi or change with the other candidates. Whatever the outcome, one thing is certain: the democratic process is underway and the Congolese people will have the last word.
