“Improvement of governance at SOKIMO: Agents are granted service cards after 13 years”
In an effort to strengthen good governance within the Société Minière de Kilo-Moto (SOKIMO), the Management Committee led by the Director General Pistis Bonongo Tokole recently decided to grant service cards to its agents. This initiative marks an important turning point, because they have not had these cards for 13 years.
The granting of service cards is of capital importance for SOKIMO agents, because it gives them a feeling of belonging to society. In addition, this allows the company to have a reliable database, thus facilitating personnel management.
This decision is seen as a strong signal of good governance issued by the current leadership of SOKIMO. Since taking office in September 2022, Managing Director Pistis Bonongo Tokole has been committed to turning around and improving the mining company.
This service card granting operation is part of a broader process of identifying active SOKIMO staff. For more than a decade, the exact number of company agents was not clearly defined. Thus, this initiative will make it possible to get rid of fictitious agents and undertake better care of actually active staff.
SOKIMO agents welcome this action and express their gratitude to the Head of State Félix Tshisekedi for having appointed a General Director concerned with the improvement of the company. They see this approach as a first step towards strengthening the transparency and performance of SOKIMO.
Société Minière de Kilo-Moto occupies an important place in the Congolese mining sector. This state-owned enterprise contributes significantly to the country’s economy and its improvement is therefore crucial for national development.
In conclusion, the granting of service cards to SOKIMO agents after 13 years constitutes a major step forward in terms of good governance. This action undertaken by the General Manager Pistis Bonongo Tokole will allow better personnel management and will contribute to the recovery and improvement of this mining company. The path towards better transparency and performance has thus begun, for the benefit of the Congolese economy.
