“DRC-Uganda joint operations: a new phase to hunt down rebels and restore stability”

Joint operations between the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) and the Uganda Defense Army (UPDF) in North Kivu and Ituri have reached a new stage. The third phase of evaluation of these operations recently concluded in Uganda. For two days, commanders from the two sectors concerned worked in collaboration with their Ugandan counterparts to put in place new strategies aimed at tracking down the ADF rebels, responsible for much of the violence in the region.

The objective of these joint operations is to continue the fight against the ADF, which continues to sow terror in both the DRC and Uganda. Generals Kasongo Maloba, commander of the Sokola 1 Grand Nord operational sector, Nyembo Abdallah, commander of the Ituri operational sector, and Dick Olom, commander of the mountain division of the Ugandan army, unanimously confirmed the continuity of these operations in a joint press release.

This collaboration between Congolese and Ugandan forces is essential to ending ADF activities and restoring stability in the region. Joint operations make it possible to exchange information, coordinate actions and strengthen the capacities of the security forces of the two countries.

It is important to emphasize that these joint operations are not limited to the fight against the ADF. They also contribute to strengthening cooperation between the DRC and Uganda, thus promoting regional stability and cross-border security.

Throughout the evaluation phases, commanders continue to adapt and develop new strategies to deal with evolving rebel tactics. This dynamic and concerted approach is essential to achieve the objectives set and ensure the safety of local populations.

In conclusion, the joint FARDC-UPDF operations in North Kivu and Ituri are entering a new phase after the successful conclusion of the third assessment. This strengthened collaboration will make it possible to continue tracking rebels, fight against insecurity and restore peace in the region.
