“Call for the departure of French troops from Chad: a request that divides and sparks debate”

For several days, a call for the departure of French troops from Chadian soil has been actively circulating on social networks. At the origin of this call is Ordjei Abderahim Chaha, president of the Chadian political party Rally for Justice and Equality (Rajet).

Member of the political section of “Wakit Tama”, Chaha affirms that his appeal reflects the concerns of a large number of Chadians who no longer want the presence of French troops. According to him, this presence is seen as support for the current regime of Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, son of the late President Idriss Deby Itno. He declares: “It is a negative presence. We say no. I have repeatedly warned the French leaders, asking them to be attentive to their policies. This is a very harmful policy. Do not get involved do not and do not support a system that the Chadian people reject.”

Chaha maintains that French policy in Chad does not bring any benefits to the country. However, he specifies that the Chadians are not against France as a nation, but rather against the policy implemented by it in Chad. According to him, it is necessary to make changes because France supports a system that oppresses and kills the Chadian people, individuals who embezzle funds and care little about the fate of the country. He concludes by demanding the departure of French troops within three months and the cancellation of the agreements between Paris and Ndjamena.

However, it should be noted that certain actors from Chadian civil society, cited as signatories of the appeal, expressed their disagreement with this press release. Jacques Ngarassal, of the Chadian Anti-Corruption Organization (OTAC), notably affirmed that he did not recognize himself in these demands.

The question of the presence of French troops in Chad therefore remains complex and gives rise to debates within the country. This situation highlights political tensions and differences of opinion regarding the role of France in Chadian affairs.

It is essential to closely follow the evolution of this situation and to remain informed of the different points of view in order to understand the issues and the consequences of this request for the departure of French troops from Chadian soil.
